Valentin Vornicu Proceeds to Potawatomi Circuit Monster Stack Day 2 as Chip Leader

The heat is rising at Potawatomi, and so do the stakes, considering the fact that both the $365 No-Limit Hold’em Monster Stack event and the $2,200 No-Limit Hold’em High Roller Re-Entry event are scheduled for February 9th.

The Monster Stack, which is currently considered as one of the most popular World Series of Poker (WSOP) Circuit events, kicked off at 11 AM on Wednesday. What is interesting about the Monster Stack is that apart from being a standard 2-day $365 No Limit Hold’em event of the Circuit, all players start with twice as many chips, amounting to 20,000.

Now everyone is talking about the Monster Stack event for another reason – the enormous player field and massive guaranteed prize pool. The total number of players who registered for the event was 532, with all entries being unique, as re-entry was not allowed. The guaranteed prize pool, on the other hand, amounted to $159,600 after the closure of the registration process, with the payout for the first place being estimated to $34,310. The runner-up prize would amount to $21,216, and the prize for the third position of the ranking is to be 15,499.

As revealed at the official WSOP website, only the top 54 players will get a cash prize for their participation in the event.

The second day of the Monster Stack event is scheduled for 2PM today, with only 30 participants remaining. Valentin Vornicu finished Day 1 of the event as the chip leader, with 1,313,000 in chips. John Paplerulh comes second, holding 1,054,000 in chips, and Jason Reno is third, with a total of 700,000 in chips. What is interesting about the current chip leader, is the fact that Vornicu is not the only winner of a Gold Ring who is to return on Day 2. Three more Gold Ring winners, including Allen Kessler, Robert Hankins and Ting Ho have made it to the second day of the event.

Apart from the Monster Stack event, there is another poker event within the Potawatomi Circuit that is found very attractive by poker lovers, and especially by ones who prefer placing high stakes – the $2,200 Buy-in No-Limit Hold’em High Roller event. This is the second Gold Ring event within the Circuit stop, along with the Monster Stack.
